WE WERE BORN IN THE FIELDS AND BY THE FIELDS WE EXIST
OUR MASTERY OF LONG-TERM KNOWLEDGE BEGAN WITH HARD WORK AND THE INGENUITY OF OUR ANCESTORS WHO IMMIGRATED TO OUR REGION AND MADE THE HIGH-DESERT BLOOM.
MSO began in 1974, when a 3rd generation farmer, William Meadows began searching for alternative crops to support soil health and productivity. The search ultimately added oilseeds into the crop rotation and Mountain States Oilseeds was born. Still family owned and operated, MSO has grown to become one of the world’s premier specialty crop companies.

WILLIAM (BILL) MEADOWS
William Meadows is a third-generation farmer, born and raised in American Falls, Idaho. He farmed the family homestead for 38 years. Bill’s vision is to provide growers with alternative crops designed to improve soil health with less input and local access to marketing.
He holds a BS degree in Agricultural Economics with a minor in Agronomy from the University of Idaho. Bill and his wife Vicki have owned and operated Mountain States Oilseeds LLC since 1974. They work to establish new specialty crops, farming techniques, and rotations across the intermountain states. In 2009, Bill was awarded the Idaho Governors Award for Excellence in Agriculture for Marketing Innovation. They have 2 daughters who continue to grow the company.
KACY (MEADOWS) GEHRING
Kacy Gehring is the daughter of Bill & Vicki Meadows. She grew up on a wheat and oilseed farm in Rockland Valley. Working with farmers, farm families, and individuals residing in an agricultural community has been rewarding and a great link to her own agricultural roots.
She attended Idaho State University and obtained a double major in Business and Mass Communications. She owns an agriculturally focused insurance agency that continues its 90+ year history. She manages MSO operations in American Falls and the financial direction of the company. Kacy is married to Jordan Gehring. They have 3 children.
Jason Godfrey is a 2001 graduate of Utah State University with a dual degree in Agri-Business and Business. From childhood Jason always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the family farm. After college he sought to be part of a company who understood farming from a farmer’s perspective. He found that niche at Mountain States Oilseeds at the age of 20. Jason manages a 4000-acre farm and trucking company with 25+ years of experience.
Jason and his wife Kotie have 4 children. As a full partner in MSO, Jason’s responsibilities include contract and consultant manager for producers and sales & market development.
CHRISTIAN (CHRIS) RAVSTEN
Chris Ravsten is a 4th generation farmer who was born and raised in Clarkston, Utah. Farming has always been at his core and Chris’s determination to expand his agricultural career brought him to Mountain States Oilseeds LLC.
