SUSTAINABILITY, STEWARDSHIP, AND INTEGRITY IS BASIC TO MSO’S COMMITMENT TO A HEALTHY PLANET AND IS INTEGRAL TO THE WAY WE DO BUSINESS AND OUR INVESTMENT IN THE EARTH’S FUTURE.
Sustainability can be expressed as stewardship. It is the stewardship of the soil that is always first in the farmer’s mind and ours as well. MSO’s commitment starts with grower agronomic support through education and on-farm collaboration. MSO continues stewardship in our products by providing customers with high quality specialty oilseeds sourced and processed with integrity.
Our success is dependent on our growers’ and customers’ success. A lasting partnership is based on integrity and sustainability.
ON THE FARM
SUSTAINABILITY CAN BE EXPRESSED AS STEWARDSHIP. IT BEGINS WITH CARING FOR THE SOIL AND A HEALTHY THRIVING EARTH. MSO'S COMMITMENT STARTS WITH GROWER AGRONOMIC SUPPORT THROUGH EDUCATION AND ON-FARM COLLABORATION.
We provide hands-on assistance including periodic field visits to track the crop and ensure food safety. Because of our dedication to education we hold annual grower training meetings where we share new information on agronomic practices.
Oilseeds have a positive impact on soils. The introduction of oilseeds into a farm rotation decreases the reliance on synthetic compounds during initial and subsequent crops.
Oilseeds are also instrumental in soil conservation and we assist farmers in their water application process as well as cover crops. Oilseeds are flowering crops and as a result, have increased bee populations and habitats.
IN OUR COMMUNITY
As partners with our farmers, we wholeheartedly support and advocate for firm and steady farm incomes. We believe the future of our company, as well as our world, is dependent on our youth. We support all our rural communities and their families with contributions to our schools and through local community food banks.
We believe that research is the key to sustainability, and we fund land grant universities and their research projects resulting in more efficient production of food sources.
IN PROCESSING AND SHIPPING
MSO CONTINUES STEWARDSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR PRODUCTS BY PROVIDING CUSTOMERS WITH HIGH VALUE OILSEEDS PROCESSED WITH INTEGRITY.
We strive to use minimal amounts of water in our cleaning and processing and monitor crop deliveries. Our tare is recleaned and provided to farms to be used as compost or animal feed resulting in zero landfill use.
We are committed to using only the latest in efficient processing equipment, using electrical saving devices and innovations in lighting and heating. We offer sustainable packaging options.
